About Me
Hello and thanks for visiting! I'm Herschel, and I am committed to the pursuit of Honor, Commitment, Integrity, and Style...in short, endeavoring to be a true gentleman in every area of my life. I believe that men should love their wives deeply and with sheer abandon, dress for the occasion, and treat all people (especially the women in their lives) with respect.
I started this blog because I feel like many men today have a distorted view of what it is to be a gentleman. It isn't defined by having excessive amounts of money or an endless line of scantily-clad women. In fact, I believe women today still want a man who lives by a code of chivalry...even strong women want a chivalrous man.
"A gentleman is someone who does not what he wants to do, but what he should do." -Hakuri Murakami
In this blog, we will discuss what it means to live life by the tenants of the true definition of being a gentleman: honor, commitment, style, romance, fatherhood, integrity, and the diligent pursuit of excellence. Since I also love travel, cigars, fine dining and culture, I'll also be writing and posting occasionally on these as well.
The military plays a big role in my personal identity. I joined the Army at 38 years old because I have always lived by a certain sense of code and the Army values appealed to me...loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. This has allowed me the opportunity for self-improvement, fulfilled a lifetime and to contribute to a cause that is greater than myself.
A few years after I joined, my daughter followed in my footsteps and joined the Army as well. Brooke served in the Army for seven years, completed a tour in Afghanistan in 2018 and is currently finishing her degree in forensic nursing. Raising her has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. She is an incredible young woman.
